It’s been a while since I’ve seen two characters so distinctly polarized on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. All the power in a central business district in Tokyo is channeled through a single set of cables on a transmission line? I’m not a city planner but it’s that a terrible idea? Also why does it take over twenty minutes for backup power to start in such a busy district? Decided to watch this video inconspicuously titled Sphinx’s Weather Forecast and his former detective coworker (who will undoubtedly become the opposing force to Nine and Twelve) just happened to be beside him at the time so that when the attack happens he can draw a connection. Also on that, how convenient was is that a lazy police officer browsing cat videos on YouTube just happened to find the video within a day of it being uploaded. The chance that Sphinx’s video would have been watched by anyone within one day of being uploaded is next to zero. Apparently the writers have no comprehension of what YouTube discoverability is like. We’ll have to see but hopefully Zankyou no Terror will pleasantly disappoint my expectations.ĮD: 「誰か、海を。」(Dare ka, Umi wo.) by Aimer Some (Very) Curious Observations:

But I really feel that they don’t.Īnyways now that you’re sick of reading my rant, I’ll close off. I really want to believe that the writer(s) behind Zankyou no Terror what they’re doing, that they are intentionally keeping things unexplained and ambiguous. My concern is that the show does feel like it’s going to explain things. After all there are many stories which seem very nonsensical and unclear at the beginning but later clarifies and explains the details.

Of course, my problems with the show could get completely invalidated as we move onward from episode one. A lot of plot elements just don’t make sense and everything feels disconnected. There are other things I could mention (which I will make a point to do below) but I think you get what I’m saying here. To boot, she is weak against pressure and unstable. Speaking of Lisa why don’t Nine and Twelve just kill her? What good will making her an accomplice do? We don’t have any reason to believe that she has any competency committing terrorism. But if they’re going to commit terrorist acts why elevate the risk of being caught by abruptly enrolling in high school? I get the feeling that the writers had them attend high school just so that Mishima Lisa ( Tanezaki Atsumi) can get involved in the most contrived way possible. Why do they do that? Actually how do they do that? The two of them obviously did not have a normal childhood being raised in some messed-up facility and all. Can the people on staff not really stop Twelve ( Saito Soma) in a single truck and snowmobile? Even more dumb is that no one stops Nine ( Ishikawa Kaito) while he’s spray painting and he somehow manages to walk out with the golden goose.īy far the most contrived development in the episode is Nine and Twelve transferring into high school. Mind you this is a nuclear facility where the guards have authority to use automatic small-arms. The heist at the beginning is cool and all, but it’s implausible. The narrative here is mechanically weak, which really hampers the believability of the show. Zankou no Terror has A LOT of plot contrivances and convenient developments. Speaking of the story: it doesn’t make much in the way of sense. Overall the visuals in this show gives it a serious and realistic tone, time will tell whether it clashes with the story or not. Animation is by no means top-notch, but in general actions are quite fluid when they count with shortcuts taken when necessary. I particularly like the large contrast between the mundanely bright outdoor scenes and the stale and dim indoor scenes, it really helps to convey the sunny yet stagnant summer setting.
#Zankyou no terror episode 1 discussion skin#
Faces and skin tones have a natural human texture, and moment animations are often frenetic but not overexpressed. The individuals in this show do not have that idealized aesthetic that has become very common-place in anime. Zankyou no Terror is certainly not lacking in the visual department. But first let’s talk about some good points. I will go into detail about what was wrong with this episode. OP:「Trigger」by Ozaki Yuuki (from Galileo Galilei) I want to say that Zankyou no Terror impresses me, but it really doesn’t.
